1988 S-10 Chevy Truck owned by Bob Everhart

Car of the month this month is actually a truck that belongs to Bob Everhart (aka SandRacer on MSV forum) from Loudonville, Ohio.

Bob’s ride is a 1988 S-10 Chevy truck that he races in a sand and clay mix on a 300 ft long tracks at places like Norwalk, Lisbon, and Cleves, all in the Buckeye state. I guess Bob is another one of those guys that thinks asphalt is for getting to and from the sand pit, nothing more. ;-) But back to the truck, Bob and a good friend built the truck from the ground up.

The truck is powered by a .060 over 396 BBC with stock iron heads, 14.6 to 1 compression BRC pistons, Comp roller cam, Eagle rods, 5140 GM crank, and is topped off with a Holley Strip Dominator intake with a Holley 1050 Dominator carb.

There is an 8” converter that connects that engine to a GM Turbo 400 tranny with a transbrake. Bob and his friend custom built the chain drive that transfers power from the tranny to the differentials, front and rear.

The rear end is a Dana 60 with a 6.50 gear while up front the truck retains the stock S-10 IFS with 4.10 gears. Rear tires are 33x17 Super Scoopers and fronts are 30x12.50 Sand Unlimited tires, all are on Centerline wheels.

Bob’s racing is mostly “Heads UP” class type stuff and his best pass to date is a 4.80 @ 72MPH.

Hats off to Sandracer, a guy doing it his way in the sand and clay. Going fast has no limits and Bob’s S-10 is another example of that. We wish Bob the best for his up coming 2008 season!
