2002 Racecraft Dragster - owned by Mark Milford
Our car of the month this time is this beautiful 2002 Racecraft Dragster that belongs to Mark Milford (00bob) of Canon, Ga. This 242 inch car sports a fabricated 9” housing with 4:10 gears mounted in a Strange aluminum center section with 40 spline Moser Engineering axles. Add Aerospace brakes, QA1 coil overs and that finishes out the back end.
Just ahead is a Dedenbear transmission case with all the bells and whistles including a 1:80 straight cut gear set. A 9 inch BTE converter connects the transmission to the engine.
For power the car has a 555” BBC built by Huntsville Engines & Performance in Alabama that dynode at 923HP @ 7400 RPM. That engine combo started with a Dart Big M block, J&E 14.5 to 1 pistons connected to a set of Childs & Albert rods which connect to a Callies Pro series crank. The short block is topped off with a pair of 355 Dart aluminum heads. A Comp Cams roller cam and lifters actuate the valves by way of a set of Jesel shaft rockers. Induction is a Rupert 1050 Dominator on alky which sits on an Edelbrock Victor 454JR intake.
Weld wheels and Hoosier tires connect it all to the track!
Best performance to date at 2000 lbs race ready is 4.84 @ 141 eight mile with a best short time of 1.07.
Mark’s season has been a mix. He won a race on 3/12/06 at Carolina Dragway in Jackson, SC but for the past few weeks he’s been suffering some “red light fever” and is working on both the driver and the car to fix the problem. We’re sure that he will get it sorted out soon and hopefully he’ll be in our “Weekly Winners” column before long! Nice car Mark and good luck!
